Why this matters to us
McLains Group is a Luton business. We source property, arrange finance and help bring homes to market across Bedfordshire, London and the South East — but Luton is where we're from and where we intend to make a difference.
Luton has set itself a bold mission: to eliminate poverty by 2040, with a near-term focus on the three things that matter most to residents — jobs, safety and homes. That mission sits squarely in our world. We can't fix a national housing crisis, but we can play a real, measurable part in our own town.
This is not a list of good intentions — it is a set of concrete commitments, the local partners we work with, and the outcomes we want to be held to.

Homes for Luton
Helping deliver and sell the homes Luton needs — affordable, first-time-buyer, and getting people off waiting lists.
- Marketing and selling new-build and regeneration developments, with a focus on affordable and first-time-buyer homes.
- Helping working people onto the ladder through clear, honest guidance on the routes actually available to them.
- Supporting the move away from temporary accommodation by bringing good-quality private homes to market.
- Bringing empty and tired properties back into use as liveable homes.
Local Jobs, Local Talent
Backing Luton people into careers — apprenticeships, local trades and local hiring on every project.
- Employing and training local apprentices — Arianna and Finnley — gaining real experience across research, finance, data, automation and marketing.
- Using Luton-based trades, suppliers and contractors wherever possible on refurbishment and development work.
- Offering work experience and a genuine route into property, finance and construction for local young people.
Backing local young people into work
As a Luton employer, we're doing our bit to give local young people a real start in a real business. Since December 2025 we've taken on two 18-year-old apprentices — Finley and Arianna — through Bedford College Group, and they're with us for the foreseeable future.
We're teaching Finley and Arianna the full picture — property and finance knowledge, plus how our front-end and back-end operations actually work day to day. It's hands-on, on-the-job training that you can't get from a textbook, and it's exactly the kind of employer-led skills development the Luton 2040 vision calls for: local businesses opening doors for local young people and building the next generation of talent.
A Hand Up in Our Town
Supporting the Luton people struggling most — homelessness and child poverty — through real partnerships, not gestures.
- A committed monthly contribution to local causes, split across homelessness and children's hardship.
- Seasonal campaigns where the need is greatest — winter warmth, back-to-school, and community food support.
- Team volunteering, not just donations — showing up in person.
Meals for Luton's homeless
We're partnering with a Luton-based charity to donate meals to people experiencing homelessness in our town. Full details coming soon.
Homelessness and housing insecurity are at the heart of the Luton 2040 mission. We're building a local partnership to provide regular meal donations to people sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation in Luton — and we'll share more once the partnership is confirmed.

What we've done
Meals for NHS kidney trust staff
Over 400 meals donated to frontline staff at our local NHS kidney trust, recognising the teams who care for our community.
We were helping our local NHS kidney trust — preparing and delivering meals for the frontline staff who give so much to the people they care for. It was a small, hands-on way of saying thank you to the teams who look after our community.
Meals for orphans in India
Over 1,000 meals donated to orphaned children in the Seemapuri slum in Old Delhi, India — a cause close to our founders' hearts and part of our giving long before Mclains Residential was founded.
Our team cooked the food ourselves and handed it out directly — or purchased meals from small, independent, family-run restaurants in the community and distributed them on the ground in the Seemapuri slum in Old Delhi. Every meal reached a child. It's the same principle that runs through everything we do at Mclains Residential.
